2020
During the COVID-19 pandemic, AISZ rapidly transformed into a fully online learning community, ensuring continuity of education during one of the most disruptive periods in modern history. Faculty redesigned courses for digital instruction while students adapted to new forms of collaboration, communication, and independent learning. Despite unprecedented uncertainty, the AISZ community demonstrated resilience, compassion, and determination.

2023

AISZ was honored with the MSA Program of Distinction designation for its World Languages program - a prestigious recognition of the school's commitment to multilingual education and intercultural competency.

2024
AISZ launched the Bridges Program, an initiative dedicated to supporting students with intensive learning needs through individualized instruction, inclusion, and the development of academic and life skills. The program marked a significant step in the school’s commitment to compassionate and inclusive education. In the same historic year, AISZ celebrated Amelia Arizti as the first Bridges Program graduate and the first graduate with Down syndrome in school history, embodying the values of perseverance, dignity, and belonging that define the AISZ community. “The American International School of Zagreb makes space for every student to shine and as the first graduate with Down syndrome and the first Bridges graduate, I want to remind everyone how important it is to see the potential and greatness in everyone.” - Amelia Arizti, Graduation Speech 2024 / 2025

The school was awarded the prestigious Professional Learning Communities (PLC) Accreditation, underscoring AISZ's culture of collaborative practice, continuous improvement, and adaptability in a rapidly changing global educational landscape.

2026

AISZ commemorated its 60th Anniversary with a year-long celebration honoring six decades of international education, community, and innovation. The milestone was marked through a series of major activations, including a refreshed visual identity and anniversary branding, the creation of the permanent AISZ History Wall, the installation of the iconic BEARS entrance wall, alumni engagement initiatives, and a formal anniversary gala attended by the United States Ambassador and distinguished members of the local and international community. Together, these initiatives celebrated the school’s enduring legacy and its longstanding commitment to excellence and global citizenship in Zagreb.
