The AISZ Bears hosted the CEESA middle school boys' basketball tournament last weekend. Five teams from Latvia, Sofia, Bucharest, Krakow, and Zagreb participated in the tournament. The Bears were undefeated after round-robin play at 4-0 and got an automatic bye to the championship game. After beating the eventual champion in the first game of the day Saturday morning by a score of 47-29, the Bears faced a much tougher game for the title. After jumping out to an early lead, the Bears fell to the Sofia Wolves 37-28 in the final. The second-place finish was a great improvement for the Bears who placed 6th last season in the CEESA tournament in Belgrade. The team worked very hard this season to prepare for the tournament and played their hearts out the entire time. The MS Bears represented AISZ with great sportsmanship, hustle, determination, and class. The tournament was a great success and we would like to thank all the schools that participated!
