Recently, a group of Ukrainian TV journalists, as part of a study trip organized by the European Climate Foundation (ECF), visited the American International School of Zagreb (AISZ) to learn about the school’s sustainable urban planning and energy efficiency initiatives. This visit was a part of a larger effort by ECF to showcase best practices in sustainable development to media professionals from Ukraine.
During their visit, the journalists were introduced to various eco-friendly solutions and green technologies implemented at AISZ, which serve as a model for energy-efficient education facilities. They were particularly impressed by the school’s energy-saving systems, waste reduction strategies, and eco-conscious architecture, all of which contribute to reducing the institution’s carbon footprint.
This visit was part of a series of similar trips, with previous stops in Germany and Poland. These study trips aim to inspire Ukrainian media to highlight sustainable development and rebuilding efforts, especially in the context of Ukraine’s own recovery. The journalists had the opportunity to see firsthand how Zagreb is embracing sustainability, with AISZ standing as a prime example of how schools can lead the way in creating greener, more resilient communities.
The visit culminated in lively discussions about the potential of implementing similar solutions in Ukraine, further solidifying AISZ's reputation as a global leader in sustainability in education.
We look forward to seeing the stories that will be produced by these journalists, highlighting the importance of sustainable urban development and education's role in shaping a better future.
